HISTORY
FREEFORM WAS FOUNDED
IN 2008
Freeform Technology was co-founded in September 2008 in Buckingham, north of London, by business partners Simon Burchett and Fred Hutton. Both precision machinists and metalwork engineers, the partners had previously worked in the motorsport industry, most recently as part of Red Bull Racing’s Formula 1 manufacturing team.

They realised that there was a shortfall in high quality composite pattern and mould tooling suppliers, and saw this as a market opportunity where their precision machining methods and expertise could be applied in the composites field.

Since starting the business with a single machine, some hand-me-down tools and a stream of new work from Red Bull Racing, Simon and Fred have gradually grown Freeform Technology, reinvesting the growing turnover into equipment and staff. Over seven years, the company has grown in size investing in quality staff with an impressive array of high end CNC machinery.
LOOKING TO THE FUTURE
The strategy is to continue to grow the business in its existing areas of strength, such as motorsports. Responding to customer demand for their services, the partners are also entering new sectors, such as, marine, defence, aerospace, energy and oil and gas. They have a plan in place to continue this expansion without losing the focus on quality and delivery that has underpinned the company’s success to date.
